Speech of the Day: Malcolm X- The Ballot or the Bullet
Malcolm "X" Little. To many, perhaps even most Americans (if they're smart at least), this name rings loud bells, and yanks strongly at many loose heart-strings. To some, Malcolm X was a hero; to others a zealous nutcase at best, or at worst, a wanna-be racist agitator and two-bit terrorist. To the denizens of the LAN, however, Malcolm "X" Little was an outspoken and integrity-filled man who was in the early 1960s conducting a struggle against oppression much like we are. The difference, though, is that in his time (for better or worse), the problem of degeneration, oppression, and elitism was much more limited to minorities (ethnic, religious, political, etc.) than it is today. Nowdays, the tables have turned, or at least been rearanged in some way. Today, the rights and liberties of all Americans are at stake, and I think we could all borrow a page from the history books of "Black Nationalism", and say "Enough is enough!".
Therefore, I encourage you to sit back, relax, and enjoy a rare, high quality audio rendition of X's 1964 The Ballot or the Bullet speech (MP3 Format). Provided also is the complete text transcript of the speech, so you can follow along or use it for whatever research or advocacy purposes you may have.
