Massive Protest Against National ID on April 22nd

An important bulletin for those in the Free State of New Hampshire:

What: Massive Coalition Protest Against National ID
When: Saturday, April 22, from 11am-1pm.
Where: State Capitol Building, Concord

NH CASPIAN is coordinating a coalition RALLY from 11am-1pm at the State Capitol in Concord on Saturday, April 22nd.

At the protest, I'll be holding an anti-government sign (designed by Roger) to help decrease the consent of the governed. Wink There will be political effects to this event, but that's because it is going to be an enormous event! We plan to create a nazi-style DHS "papers please" checkpoint to show what the real effect of National ID will be, but these brown suits will have DHS armbands instead of swastikas.

The size of the coalition being built is unprecedented from what I've ever been involved in. CNN will be at the event. National civil liberties groups are flying in representatives to our coalition meeting tomorrow (Thursday) at Bickford's after our 6pm NH Caspian meeting. Coalition organizations will literally be shipping people to Concord by the busload.

It is my hope that everyone from the Underground comes out to the event and brings everyone they know, and a LOT of anti-government signs. Smiley Smiley Smiley This is going to be huge! Please pass this along to as many people as possible. E-mail it around, post it everywhere, and pass around flyers and propaganda if you can. Wink More info and flyers may be available at NHCaspian.org in the future.

I'd like to help with the FSP adopt-a-highway cleanup -- perhaps we should move the date of it. I plan on attending the April 19th trial so I'll see you there.

Feel free to put this on the Underground front page. I don't know if my Wiki login is working. If anyone wants my new phone number, it's 765-8100.

Libertarians Say No to Torture!

Are you pissed about the US military and CIA torture of mostly innocent civilian prisoners (No, we will not use the false euphamism "detainee" that's so popular today) for no productive reason? We are too! For this reason, the Libertarian Action Network (LAN) is now in solidarity with TortureProtest.org via their "Black Ribbon Campaign". If you run a web site of your own, please consider adding this graphic to your site in order to spread the word. You can see ours right here on this blog page. Just look lower down on the right side under the Paypal donate button (which we encourage you to click too, btw ;D)

In other news, this site has been redone on the back end in order to be more search engine friendly than ever. Hopefully this is the reason you're now coming to this site, if you aren't a regular.

The New Libertarian Party Mascot?

The Libertarian Party has used the Statue of Liberty as its official mascot/logo since its inception over 30 years ago in the early '70s (1972 I want to say?). Personally, I think it's more or less OK, albeit not exactly the best original idea ever. On the other hand, it is very symbolic and descriptive; Lady Liberty gets down to the point with no frills.

On the contrary, the Demorats and Republicons ("Democrats" & "Republicans" in polite company) use animals for their logos, though they were effectively assigned to them by political cartoonists and editors in the mid 19th century. In keeping with this well-known and generations-removed tradition, Kevin Breen of Reform The LP has come up with a new mascot inspired by the Free State Project. "What is it", you ask? If you guessed the wily and elusive porcupine, you're right!

In other news, I saw a huge (probably 30-40 lbs!) raccoon outside earlier this evening/morning. It was the size of a medium sized dog! I've seen gigantic possums before, but this was insane! For those of you who don't give a rat's rectum about this, I apologize but I thought it was exciting damnit! :)

PS- Stay tuned for some cool Linux performance hacks in the near future. I promise the delay won't be 2 weeks plus this time...

Harry Browne Dies, Age 72

Harry Browne, the former Libertarian Party candidate for President, writer, and all around pro-liberty motivator died yesterday at his home in Franklin, TN (which at one point was part of the "Franklin" nation or state [I can't remember precisely] that was not allowed to form very early on in US history). We will all miss him dearly, but at the same time, it is good that he is no longer suffering from his ailments. See the title link for the news article.

Amongst other things, Browne was a co-founder of DownsizeDC.org, a policy organization that promotes small government by giving concerned Americans a way to voice their ideas with Congress. As per DownsizeDC president Jim Babka's blog announcement, Mr Browne's widow requests that any gifts of condolence be donated to DownsizeDC.

REMEMBER THE PAST- ACT ON THE FUTURE!
